Gatecrashing on Hogmany
Posted by weehaggis on Tuesday, January 2, 2007
After a rather uneventful journey, made it back to Norway. Transfer through Heathrow was painlessly quick, although did have to hang around in treminal 4 for about 3 hours waiting for my connection back to Oslo. Now you are strictly only allowed one piece of hand baggage and everything must fit into one regulation sized bag. Of course, after security you can shop til you drop and buy as much as you can carry and then take it onto your flight. I wonder whose interests are really being looked after here???
Anyway…
Hogmany (or New Year’s Eve just incase you didn’t know
) was a fun night. Got an invite to Karla’s soiree and ended up gatecrashing a kareoke party full of mad irish people (and thats the best possible type of mad). Too much fog, too much rain and too much cold put a bit of a dampner on the evening’s fireworks. Yes, there were lots, but not quite as spectacular or impressive as in pervious years. Even though the fireworks were a bit of a washout, the kareoke was a hoot. I have to say, Karla does a mean Roxanne. The video would be a surefire hit on YouTube….then there’s threat of some something extremely horrible and painful which would surely follow
Oh, and before I forget, found out some more good news while back in Scotland. Norwegian (Norways version of a low cost airline) will be starting a service to Edinburgh this April…..yipeee. No more need to rely on Rynair and backwater airports for cheap flights.
