Flickr Sucks

Flickr is really startin to piss me off.   Ok, to be fair, this me not be entirely Flickr’s fault, but I’ve been trying to upload my Riga photos and I’ve only managed a few over the last week or so.  Looks like a subset of flickr users (myself included) have been having probs over the last few weeks with dead slow and stop flickr upload connections.  When I do manage to upload all my pics, will finish that previous post….promise

Just back from Riga

Just got back after spending Easter break in Riga and, bloody hell, its snowing again. Before leaving looked like spring was in full flow. Weather was improving and the winter snow had all but disappeared from the landscape. Now it looks like we’ve been plunged back into another arctic winter This recent Aftenposten article turned out to be a bit of an understatement.

As for Riga….great city. The old part of town, typical of many other European cities with remaining old towns – medieval style buildings and narrow streets. Thankfully, still lacking in the tacky tourist souvenir shops which seam to propagate in such places. Then there’s newer part of town with all the art nouveau buildings. Some of it has been beautifully restored, with other parts suffering badly from years of neglect during the Soviet occupation. Took quite a few photos and will be uploading them to my flickr real soon.

The other important stuff….cheap beer (at least cheaper than Norway) and cheap eating out. More about this and other stuff coming up.

Now its back to work tomorrow.
